Labels:text | screenshot | font OCR: Although the compression ratio must be reduced somewhat in order to keep the total compression ratio (supercharger plus piston/ cylinder) below the knock limit, the efficiency only suffers if the turbocharger is designed for excess boost pressure in order to improve performance at lower engine speeds, as is done in racing cars. In this application, a waste gate or pressure relief value is incorporated in order to limit boost pressure as full engine speeds are reached.
